Hillary Korn Fontana
"The balance and intrigue of a project comes to fruition when I can combine multi-layers of materials to create my pieces. Before I start that session, I have already visualized the finished product. But sometimes it grows and evolves in a new direction, like a person with different strengths and personalities. As a hearing-impaired person, I use my artwork to create communication. The silence allows me to focus on how to connect with my audience by using colors, textures, or even words. I want the viewer to feel raw emotion and self-reflection, thus creating their internal conversation."
Hillary Korn Fontana is a mixed-media artist living in Westchester County, New York. Self-taught, Hillary grew up experimenting with all different mediums of visual and digital arts, woodworking, glass, textiles, and silversmithing. Working professionally as a graphic designer for 20+ years in the corporate and non-profit world supported a family and a sense of security. However, creating “hands-on” artwork has allowed her more freedom of expression as an artist and to go beyond her emotional boundaries.
